Yule Be Sorry If You Don’t Submit Your Holiday Card Artwork

Great Hearts Academies October 11, 2023 -

The holidays are quickly approaching. While we may only be in October, Great Hearts is looking ahead to the holiday season to find student artwork to grace the cover of our annual Holiday Card.

Artwork of cardinal in birch treesThroughout the years, the selected artwork featured on the cover of the card vividly display holiday cheer, warmth, and happiness through watercolor, oil paints, charcoal, and more. The creative mediums used for the artwork are limited only to our young artists’ imaginations.

If you would like to submit your child’s artwork for consideration, please go to https://arizona.greatheartsamerica.org/holiday-card/ and fill out the form. Please note that if your artwork is selected, we will send a professional photographer out to capture the image. Please do not discard the artwork once you’ve submitted the form.

This contest is open to all students enrolled at Great Hearts in grades K-12. We do ask that the student completes 100% of the artwork without parent guidance. All submissions are due before October 31st. If you have questions about the submission process, please reach out to bailey.drake@greathearts.org.

student with artworkLast year, the artwork chosen was submitted by a student at Archway North Phoenix. Second grader Selah Thompson hand-painted a delightful snowman with cool blues and purple hues that showed her mastery of the difficult and sometimes unforgiving medium of watercolor.

The piece was created with thought and care. Her mother said that she spent hours on it and started over multiple times. “Art is her passion!”

Besides having her artwork displayed on the official Great Hearts Holiday Card that was distributed last December, Thompson and her artwork were also featured in a Great Hearts story: https://www.greatheartsamerica.org/this-snowman-will-melt-your-heart/.

Encourage your young artist to participate and create a holiday masterpiece and, if selected, have their artwork shared with others this season and join the ranks of Selah Thompson and other previous great-hearted artists who have had their work displayed in such a meaningful way.

We are grateful to all who are willing to share their talent with Great Hearts and all the recipients of the holiday cards, and we look forward to seeing some exceptional submissions this year. Who knows, your art may just sleigh the competition!
