8 Great Hearts Academies Recognized as Best High Schools
Great Hearts Academies September 7, 2023 -
U.S. News released their rankings for the 2023-2024 Best High Schools and eight Great Hearts Arizona Preparatory Academies earned high National and metro-area rankings on their list. The schools include: Scottsdale Prep, Chandler Prep, North Phoenix Prep, Great Hearts Anthem, Veritas Prep, Glendale Prep, Trivium Prep, and Arete Prep.
By earning a national ranking in the top 40%, these schools have each achieved status as a U.S. News Best High School. Our schools, like all public charter schools, enroll any student who applies, provided a seat is available. There is no entrance exam, behavioral review, tuition, or fee. Public charter schools receive significantly less state funding than public district schools. All our high schools offer a rigorous classical liberal arts curriculum with challenging assignments and grading that reflects an uncompromising encouragement to pursue excellence.
“We are not in education for the accolades but because we love our classical curriculum, and because we love the students, we are privileged to teach each day,” said Zack Withers, Great Hearts Anthem Headmaster. “However, we always appreciate when our teachers and students are recognized for their hard work.”
The U.S. News rankings include data on nearly 25,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. In addition to traditional high schools, the rankings encompass public charter schools like ours; magnet; and science, technology, engineering, and math-focused schools.
Trivium Prep Headmaster, Dan Schutten shared his reaction to his school’s ranking. “Though the primary aim of an educator is not recognition, we are both honored and thrilled to have been named; and truly, the credit belongs to Trivium Prep’s outstanding teachers and staff for their passion and dedication as well as to our incredible families for their partnership and support.”
Corinne Jacobson, Headmaster at North Phoenix Prep mirrored the sentiments of the other Headmasters. “While we don’t do what we do for the sake of acknowledgment, it is always nice to see that doing the right thing also leads to positive metric driven results.”
